(01 April 2025, Manila) - As part of its commitment to actively support interested investors and locators, APECO is playing a key role in facilitating discussions between the Pacific Impact Development Corporation (PIDC) and Aurora Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AURELCO) as APECO looks to introduce a renewable energy source into Aurora's power supply mix. By paving the way for PIDC’s 16-Megawatts Solar Farm, APECO is ensuring compliance with local and national energy regulations while forging strong relationships between investors and the local industry stakeholders.
Despite the national holiday, Mr. Angelo Gabriel Mantuano, APECO Deputy Administrator, and Engr. Ryan Baliat, Engineering and Environmental Safety Division (EESD) Manager, held a coordination meeting with PIDC’s team led by Mr. James Timko, Managing Director, and Ms. Jaycee Molina Rubio, AURELCO General Manager, to determine the next steps of the landmark renewable energy project that will put the Casiguran-based investment promotion agency in the renewable energy map.
The discussion focused on forward-thinking strategies to support the sustainable energy needs of APECO, its prospective locators but more importantly for the local communities in the region. Another key outcome was the agreement to conduct a Power Distribution Impact Study which is a crucial step in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of power distribution in the region especially with the new renewable energy supply coming in. This study will also assess the capacity of the existing electrical infrastructure to accommodate future investments in energy that will see the transformation of APECO into a renewable energy hub.
This initiative marks another productive step for APECO in enhancing its operational framework and investment readiness. By addressing energy requirements early on, APECO continues to position itself as a strategic location for businesses seeking a well-supported economic zone. With PIDC’s groundbreaking happening soon, APECO is actively pursuing its goal of becoming the Renewable Energy Hub of North Luzon.
