Casiguran, Aurora - The people of Aurora possess immense potential. While APECO is dedicated to enhancing and showcasing the region's natural resources, the GOCC also acknowledges the invaluable manpower and skills of its people. The late Senator Edgardo J. Angara deeply understood the significance of art and culture, ensuring that various workshops for singing, acting, and dancing were ingrained into the heart of Aurora.
APECO recognized the profound significance of human potential and talent, which led to the hosting of its first-ever APECO Singing Idol since its inception 17 years ago. This contest not only showcased the Filipino people's deep love for music but also celebrated the legacy that the late Senator Edgardo J. Angara had instilled in the province.
When asked about APECO's decision to host the contest, Business Development Marketing Chief A Gene Ferrer shared, "APECO is deeply committed to improving the lives of the people of Aurora province. A key part of this commitment is recognizing and nurturing the untapped potential in the arts. By hosting events like this, we hope to inspire individuals to step out of their comfort zones and showcase the world-class talent that Aurora has to offer, especially in singing. As our esteemed President and CEO Gil Taway often says, 'Para sa Bayan.' This event was truly for the people, to show them that we hear their voices and that we value them. This is just the beginning. APECO is dedicated to providing more platforms to highlight these incredible talents in the future."Cold beers and sizzling barbeques from the APECO
APECO Mercato added to the ambiance of the already scenic Casiguran Sound as contestants from all over the province sang their hearts out. The one-day event featured 30 contestants, ranging in age from 9 to 44 years old, battling it out in a fiery ensemble of musical performances. They dazzled both the APECO judges and the audience with their talent.
"It was an overwhelming experience for me, especially since it was only my second time joining a singing competition, and it was held at APECO," Elthona Mora shared when asked about APECO Idol. “For me, it's a privilege to be part of it, and I'm thankful for the chance to perform in such a beautiful place like APECO." Adding color to the event were hosts Shiela Mojica and Emerson Lao Jr., whose playful banter helped set a lively tone. Their dynamic tandem not only introduced the contestants but also alleviated some unnecessary jitters, while they highlighted the proud parents supporting the participants.
When asked about his impressions of the event, Emerson Lao shared, "From my point of view, the people were genuine. It wasn't just the contestants participating, but the viewers as well, making you feel like part of the contest. The energy of the delighted audience was infectious and positively affected the participants. It revealed the many talents in Aurora; there are a lot of skilled individuals here."
Although the rain threatened to ruin the evening, it only added a sense of camaraderie as everyone huddled inside the big tent where the event was held. This sense of kinship bridged APECO and the people of Aurora, dispelling the previous sentiment of being shunned by the Zone. Elthona concluded with a heartfelt statement, "I hope next time mas pag-ibayuhin niyo pa po ang pagkilala sa mga talent ng mga taga Aurora, lalong-lalo na po dyan sa Bayan ng Casiguran."
